He began his career in building in 1972 after an honorable discharge from the Army. He builds homes with the same sense of duty and honor that he carried with him on two tours of Viet Nam. As a helicopter pilot, the U.S. Army recognized his courage and valor with awarding him 13 Air Medals, 3 Bronze Stars and 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses. He flew his missions under the rank of Captain. Throughout his building career Patrick has built in many prestigious sub-divisions. A few of those are Saddlebrook Estates in Colleyville, Bellaire Hills in Keller, Ashbrook Estates in Euless, Trophy Club, and The Resort at Eagle Mountain Lake. Over 500 of the total homes in Trophy Club, Texas were built by Patrick. Pat's trademark of consistent construction quality appears on almost every street in Trophy Club. In 1982, Patrick McCombs was named Builder of the Year in Trophy Club, and for the following four years 1983 through 1987, he was the highest volume builder in Trophy Club. In 1985, a peak year in Trophy Club home construction, Pat's Trophy Club homes won the first place awards for Best Interior Design and Best Exterior Design in the DFW Parade of Homes.
